Floria

So, Emilee and I had a 48 hour driving marathon-to Jaxsonville then Clearwater and back to Jacksonville, and then of course to Santee to get Talia and home. 1195 miles in 48 hours. Went to see a specialized private deaf school in Clearwater. It wasn't the model we had built it up to be, but it and the time in the car have fed another avenue of a specialized deaf and CODA school here in the Midlands.

Fun with the sold armoire

We sold this to make room for the new to-be guest room so we decided to have a little photo op.

Late Update

It is almost the story and then the update since its been so long since I posted...

First of all, we did not get the baby boy in Colorado. Long story short, our agency in Georgia sent 3 families to a birthmom in Colorado to choose, there was some weirdness and one family bailed so it was down to two families. We waited about 2 weeks through inductions, cancelled inductions, supposed due dates, etc. and the birthmom decided to keep her son. Enough said. I was disappointed, but not severely since I know somewhere is OUR kid and that (obviously) was not him. Sooooo, the Colorado agency did send us another referral for a birthmom on methadone. Um, no thanks.

So now I've left Mike in Lexington battling cat pee on our carpet (or whats left of the carpet...we're slowly ripping it up) and termites in the cabinets in the garage and I'm in Florida! Cold Florida, but there are no cats or buggies attacking here.

Overwhelmed! In a good way!

Saturday was our big yard sale. As the title suggests, we are just awestruck with the generosity that we received! So many people donated items to the sale that we had at least 10 TRUCK loads of things to sell. Joy, Ashley, Karen, David and Mike and I arrived at Providence Presbyterian Church at 4am to start the set up. Just having it there was awesome-its Talia's daycare and they really only know me from seeing me in the halls with Talia, yet they allowed us to have a key to get in their brand new building and use their tables at 4am! Jennifer arrived a little after 6am with more coffee (yummy) and Amber and my dad got there right after that. Joy's sweet mom kept Bren and Edi in one of the daycare rooms all morning. Us girls sold things all day, for a total of....drumroll...$1150.00!!! I am still in awe! All day we got amazing responce. One woman from Lugoff, Julie, had been waiting for 3 weeks to come, just because she and her husband are in the process of adopting and she wanted to support us! Another woman talked with me for a while and left with her son, then came back with a card and a personal check for us inside! The generosity of my world is amazing. I am truely blessed with friends in so many areas of the world. I actually went to church today at East Lake Community Church and the sermon was about friendship. The pastor gave us a "midterm" about the friends we have, and while I am not the world's most perfect friend, I am so lucky to have people that I depend on and that depend on me. Next!

The church at 4am. Yes, I was the first to arrive.

Some time during set up.

Took a page from the fireman's collection book-used Talia's boots to collect money!

The end. Reduced everything to about 2 truck loads of stuff left over. Ran it to His House and came home and crashed!
